Echocardiography Technology

Do you want to help patients who may have heart problems? In Echocardiography Technology, you’ll learn to provide direct patient care as a cardiac sonographer who uses ultrasound waves to create images of the heart muscle, valves and blood vessels.  You’ll learn techniques to correctly position and obtain ultrasound images that aid in diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and vascular disease.  As a result of echocardiography, doctors may discover that a patient’s heart has abnormalities such as poorly functioning heart valves, heart disease or damage to the heart tissue from a past heart attack. With the growth in our area’s cardiac services, your services as an entry level echocardiographer are likely to be in demand.

The Gwinnett Technical College Cardiovascular Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology (JRC-CVT).
