From cutting hair to owning and running your own salon, Gwinnett Tech’s Barbering and Cosmetology program provides students with vital skills needed to excel in the beauty industry.
In the Gwinnett Tech Cosmetology and Barbering program, you’ll gain specialized training in safety, hair treatments
and manipulations, skin and nail care and sales and management.
About
The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, hair treatments and manipulations, skin and nail care, receptionist skills, sales and management. The curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology.
Successful completion of the program qualifies the student to participate in the State Cosmetology Board Examination which has the authority to grant a Master Operator’s License to a person passing both practical and written examinations.
What are my program options?
*Anyone applying to Barbering for Cosmetologists (BF21) MUST hold a valid Georgia Master Cosmetologist license that must be submitted with the application.

What is the difference between a barber and a cosmetologist?
A barber focuses primarily on cutting hair, usually men’s. Cosmetologists are more beauty-oriented and can branch out beyond haircuts to skin and nail services.
How much will it cost?
