Gwinnett Tech’s Automotive Technology program provides the advanced training you’ll need to start a career in this field. Students will train on the latest vehicles and technology, and you’ll learn service and repair procedures that are popular on today’s automobiles and trucks.
About
Gwinnett Tech’s Automotive Technology program is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, Inc./Automotive Service Excellence (ASE-NATEF). Our General Automotive program is pleased to offer the Nissan Technician Training Academy (NTTA) program for prospective Nissan and Infiniti technicians. Students who want specialized training on Nissan and Infiniti vehicles may do so by enrolling in the General Automotive program at degree level and declaring this intention during orientation. Program classes are scheduled for day or evening at our Lawrenceville campus, and students may begin the program during the fall or spring semesters.

Our Automotive Technology advisory board will provide you with relevant industry-specific curriculum for today’s high-demand careers.
At the time of hiring, dealerships/shops will conduct a criminal background check on students/graduates applying for positions. A satisfactory criminal background report is conditional for employment with many businesses.
Issues affecting a background check may hinder a student/graduate in securing a job while in school, or upon graduation.
Students must be at least 16 years old to start the program.
**Due to the demand and popularity of automotive programs (Automotive Technology, Ford ASSET, Heavy Diesel, Mercedes-Benz, & Mopar CAP) at Gwinnett Technical College, new students must contact AutomotiveDivision@GwinnettTech.edu immediately after applying to the college to complete a program advisement form. Acceptance into Gwinnett Technical College does not guarantee immediate placement within these programs.

What can I expect from the Automotive Technology program?
Students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program train to become automotive service technicians and mechanics, often called service technicians or service techs, who inspect, maintain, and repair cars and light trucks. Classes are designed to prepare students to work on traditional mechanical components, such as engines, transmissions, and drive belts, as well as a growing number of electronic systems and alternative fuels, such as ethanol and electricity. Students enrolled in the Nissan® Technician Training Academy train on Nissan and Infiniti® vehicles during lab exercises utilizing Nissan-specific tools, equipment and technical information. Actual technician training credit for certain Nissan Technical Training courses may be earned by completing approved courses in the General Automotive program curriculum, as well.
How much will it cost?
