LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – Leadership skills are highly sought after in the workplace. For 12 employees of Peach State Federal Credit Union, it is now a part of their working life after completing a custom training program at Gwinnett Technical College.
- The employees, who were chosen by the senior management team at Peach State Federal Credit Union, participated in the year-long class to help them grow in their roles at the credit union. The curriculum for the program was custom-designed by the credit union and the College to emphasize the values and goals of the credit union. This included a focus on excellence, teamwork, and integrity through classes on topics such as listening skills, dealing with difficult people and business ethics. This was the second group to complete the program. Another group of selected employees will begin this specialized training in January 2017.
After 12 months of classes at Gwinnett Technical College, the group has "formed a new network of resources," Peach State Federal Credit Union President/CEO, Marshall Boutwell, told the new graduates.
Plans have been made for the graduates to continue to meet regularly and discuss real world applications of the topics presented in the Leadership Academy program. Boutwell explains, "This program is invaluable to the growth of our employees personally and professionally. It not only enhances the quality of their work, but our service to our members. By improving our internal culture it allows us to continually improve the service we deliver to our members. Everyone wins."
