Gwinnett Technical College Hosts Spring GED Graduation Ceremony

GED Graduation CeremonyGWINNETT – NORTH FULTON – As family and friends filled the campus of Gwinnett Technical College, Gwinnett Tech’s Adult Education department reached another milestone, graduating more than 400 GED® students for the spring 2019 semester.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Meghan McBride, Dean, Adult Education, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, shared in her keynote address “You are a fighter, society told me I couldn’t or wouldn’t achieve my goals because of my past. They were wrong. I challenge you today to use your GED to transform your life.”

Kathryn Mulvaney, former GED® graduate and current Gwinnett Tech student spoke to graduates about finding their why stating, “today is your last day as an adult education student, but it’s the first day of your future. Today is your beginning make it count.”

Dr. D. Glen Cannon, president, Gwinnett Technical College closed the ceremony stating, “You’ve opened a door for yourself and your families. Take the momentum you have created to continue on your educational journey. You have many more opportunities ahead of you, use them wisely.”

Gwinnett Tech offers six adult education centers in Gwinnett (including partnerships with Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department, Gwinnett County Public Schools and Gwinnett Juvenile Court) and three centers in North Fulton, as well as four GED® Testing Centers. Orientation, assessments and classes are offered to students for free. The cost to take the GED® test is just $40 per subject area. Residents of Georgia who earn a GED® may also be eligible for a $500 HOPE GED® grant, which can be used toward continuing postsecondary education in Georgia.
