LAWRENCEVILLE - On Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. the community is invited to attend the unveiling of a beautiful new memorial that will stand in perpetuity on Gwinnett Tech’s Lawrenceville campus to honor all veterans who have served to protect our rights and freedom.
The dedication ceremony is sure to kick off Memorial Day weekend with great honor and reverence. The custom crafted memorial will include the bronzed boots and dog tags of Gwinnett Tech student J.T. Stokes, two benches made from Georgia granite, and five new flag stations that will bear the flags of each branch of our armed forces. The dedication will also include a wreath laying ceremony to honor fallen veterans. Members of the Duluth High School Color Guard will present the colors and College veterans will have the honor of raising the flags for the first time.
The veterans memorial will stand on the front lawn of Building 100, which serves as the main entrance to the College, located at 5150 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville. Expected attendees include Gwinnett Tech students, faculty and staff, as well as local veterans, military and government dignitaries and local citizens. Light refreshments will be served. To better anticipate the crowd expected, attendees are asked to register in advance.
