Gwinnett Tech students may be eligible for state-funded financial aid through either Georgia's HOPE Scholarship, for those enrolled in an associate degree program, or the Georgia HOPE Grant, for those enrolled in a certificate or diploma program.
Gwinnett Tech requires the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) be completed as the first step in applying for and federal or state financial aid. This application is available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
GEORGIA HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
If you are a Georgia resident, you are eligible for this scholarship if you meet the following educational requirements:
You must be accepted into an associate's degree program.
You must not have earned a baccalaureate degree.
Students must have a 3.0 GPA upon graduating from an eligible Georgia high school. For more details, click here
Earn a 3.0 grade point average at the college level on degree coursework after attempting 30, 60, or 90 semesters hours, regardless of high school graduation status. For more details, click here.
For the 2011-2012 academic years, the HOPE Scholarship will pay 90 percent of TCSG standard tuition, calculated on the 2010-2011 tuition rates, about $60.75 per credit hour.
If lost, the HOPE Scholarship can be regained one time at a subsequent GPA checkpoint. Any previous gains or losses prior to Fall Term 2011 will not apply.
HOPE Scholarship benefits are capped at 127 semester hours.
Books and fees are not covered.
The HOPE Scholarship will not pay for learning support classes.
Students lose HOPE Scholarship eligibility seven years after high school graduation. First time HOPE Scholarship recipients in Summer Quarter 2011 or later are bound by this seven-year rule.
Students who received the Scholarship prior to Summer Quarter 2011 remain eligible through June 30, 2015, regardless of graduation date.

This scholarship pays your tuition, and does not need to be repaid. Full-time enrollment is not a requirement, and this program is not based on financial need.
Zell Miller Scholarship (pays all tuition)
Students must have a 3.7 GPA upon graduating from an eligible high school.
Students must, in addition to the 3.7 GPA, have a combined 1200 (from a single test) on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or at least a 26 Composite ACT score.
Students must maintain a 3.3 GPA in college to keep the Zell Miller Scholarship.
Students who drop below a 3.3 GPA can earn the HOPE Scholarship if their GPA remains at 3.0 or above.
One valedictorian and salutatorian from each high school will be eligible to receive the Zell Miller Scholarship without consideration of the GPA or ACT/SAT requirements.
The Zell Miller Scholarship will cover tuition at 100 percent of the current standard tuition rate.
Combined Zell Miller Scholarship and HOPE Scholarship benefits are capped at 127 semester hours.
Students who have earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible for the scholarship.
Books and fees are not covered.
Zell Miller Scholarship recipients must meet all of the HOPE Scholarship eligibility requirements to continue eligibility.
Students who entered an eligible post-secondary institution prior to 2007 will not be eligible for the Zell Miller Scholarship.
Home study students may be eligible to receive a retroactive Zell Miller Scholarship if they earned a 3.3 GPA at the end of the semester in which they attempted 30 semester hours.
GEORGIA HOPE GRANT
If you are a Georgia resident, you may be eligible for this grant if you meet the following educational requirements:
New students can enroll using the Grant regardless of high school GPA.
Students who have earned a bachelor's degree are not eligible to receive the HOPE Grant.
You must be accepted into a certificate or diploma program.
You are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA (Effective Fall 2011).
GPAs will be checked at 30 and 60 semester hours.
For current TCSG students on the HOPE Grant, the 3.0 GPA requirements do not take effect until the end of Fall Semester 2011. After grades have been posted, only students who reached a 30 or 60 semester hour checkpoint during Fall Semester 2011 will be checked and required to meet a 3.0 GPA. All other HOPE Grant eligible students will not be checked until their next semester hour checkpoint.
If lost, the HOPE Grant can be regained one time at the GPA checkpoint.
HOPE Grant benefits are capped at 63 semester hours.
Students who were not Georgia residents when they graduated from high school must meet state residency requirements for 24 months before enrolling. (Active military, their spouses and their dependents are Georgia residents for HOPE program purposes if stationed in Georgia or list Georgia as their residence of record).
For the 2011-2012 academic years, the HOPE Grant will pay 90 percent of TCSG standard tuition, calculated on the 2010-2011 tuition rate, or $60.75 per credit hour.
Any tuition increase in the 2011-2012 school years will not be covered.
Books and fees are not covered.

Residency: If the student received a GED® and was a Georgia resident on the date of the GED® test, then the student must meet the residency requirements for 12 months immediately preceding the first day of the term for which the award is sought. If the student was not a resident on the date of the GED® test, then the student must meet the residency requirements for 24 months immediately preceding the first day of the term for which the award is sought.
Dual and joint enrolled students must meet the Georgia residency requirements for 12 months immediately preceding the first day of the term for which the award is sought.
