Do Your Homework Before You Apply

You're ready to apply, but there are a few "prerequisites" that you'll want to check out first. Are you old enough? Do you have the right education credentials? Have you got the test scores that you need?

Check out our application requirements below. And if you have any questions, feel free to call our admissions office (770-962-7580, ext. 6616) or send us an email.

Age Requirements

You must be at least 16 years of age to apply, and several programs have higher age requirements. Cosmetology and health program applicants must be at least 17. And paramedic technology applicants must be 18 years old upon completion of the program.

Education Requirements

The minimum education requirement for all programs of study is a high school diploma or a general education development (GED®) diploma. If you're in need of your GED®, Gwinnett Tech serves as a GED® test center and offers GED® test preparation services.

Test Requirements

Do you need the SAT, ACT or ASSET to get into GTC? We accept a variety of entrance exams, and the exam/score that you need depends on the program to which you want to apply.

With your educational goals in mind, review our test requirement information to see which test/score is needed for you.

If you apply to an associate's degree, diploma or certificate program, you must take Gwinnett Tech's COMPASS placement exam, unless acceptable SAT, ACT, CPE or ASSET scores taken within the past five years are available.
