The Fire Science degree program not only prepares students to fight fires or assist in emergencies, but also gives them the leadership skills to make decisions under pressure and lead confidently in life and death situations. Gwinnett Tech's Fire Sciences program is regarded as one of the top programs of its kind in Georgia, while GTC's related EMT-paramedic program is the first and only program in the state to be nationally accredited.
The Fire Science degree course work gives students a comprehensive understanding of the numerous scientific, structural and safety aspects that are involved in effective fire fighting and prevention. Classes include fire science fundamentals, firefighting strategies and tactics, fire service safety and loss control, fire prevention and inspection and much more.
Graduates of this program have the skills to take positions in government fire departments, large industry fire departments, the military, private fire safety consultancies, fire investigations and numerous other industry sectors.
