What goes up must come down? That old saying is true in the Residential Construction Management classes at Gwinnett Technical College. This term students had a little help with their demolition day in the lab in the form of Morning Show Host Taylor Scott from Atlanta’s 104.7 The Fish.
Program Director Dennis Bowers and Lab Assistant Kathleen Torrance were listening to the popular morning show when Scott announced that one of her dreams and bucket list items was to tear down a wall as she had seen done on home improvement shows on HGTV. Realizing that the students taking classes this summer would be tearing down their projects to make way for new ones next semester, Torrance extended an invitation to Scott to make it happen.
Outfitted with safety equipment and tools, Scott worked alongside Gwinnett Technical College students who taught her the proper way to remove tiles, chair rail, crown molding and finally tear through sheets of dry wall just as she had dreamed of doing. Commenting that it was harder than it looked on television, Scott said she thought she would stick to her career in radio rather than change to the field of construction.
