Gwinnett Technical College (GTC)
The associate in applied science degree in Radiologic Technology is a sequence of courses that prepares students for positions in radiology departments and related businesses and industries. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of didactic and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive a Radiologic Technology associate degree, have the qualifications of a radiographer, and are eligible to sit for a national certification examination for radiographers.

Career Opportunities for Radiologic Technologists
Graduates may become certified as radiographers by taking a certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or an equivalent certifying agency. Graduates will find opportunities in a wide variety of settings, including, but not limited to hospitals, imaging centers, ambulatory clinics (inpatient/outpatient), physicians' offices, or governmental industries.
Competitive Selection Process
Due to the volume of applicants, the radiologic technology program uses a competitive selection process to determine acceptance into the radiologic technology program. There are three steps to the selection process.
Step 1: Radiologic Technology Preparatory Process
The annual Step 1 deadline is May 20.
The following requirements must be completed by the May 20 deadline, for the applicant to be eligible for the Radiologic Technology program selection. The student must:

Complete the Gwinnett Technical College student application process and achieve regular program admission status under the Health Science/Pre Rad Tech Certificate program.

Be in good academic standing with GTC.

Complete the following prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of "C" prior to the radiologic technology application deadline of May 20: *BIOL 2113 and BIOL 2113L, *BIOL 2114 and BIOL 2114L, ENGL 1101, MATH 1111 (or MATH 1101), PSYC 1101, SPCH 1101, HUMN 1101 (or ARTS 1101 or MUSC 1101 or ENGL 2130). (*Must have been taken within five years prior to starting RADT coursework).

Submit an essay on the Health Sciences Program Essay form, which can be downloaded from www.gwinnetttech.edu/forms.
Step 2: Radiologic Technology Competitive Selection Process
Student files will be evaluated based on the following scoring process. Students with the highest overall score will be selected for program admission. All candidates must attend a mandatory orientation meeting when invited. In addition, each candidate will be scheduled for observation at a clinical site for one day and will be invited for a personal interview.
Point System
Students will be admitted to the Radiologic Technology program through a weighted score made up of five factors: overall college GPA; prerequisite course GPA; number of other essential general education courses completed; written essay; and a personal interview. Points for various criteria will be given according to the charts below.
