Gwinnett Tech Volunteers Ready for Gwinnett Great Days of Service
More than 200 Faculty, Staff and Students Volunteer for Six Projects

Lawrenceville

Gwinnett Tech faculty, staff and students are gearing up for Gwinnett Great Days of Service this Fri., Oct. 5, with more than 200 volunteers preparing for a day of outreach and work on six projects.

This year, more than 160 volunteers will focus on a Gwinnett Tech landscaping project, planting trees throughout campus with a particular focus on areas around the college's new Life Sciences Center. Gwinnett Tech volunteers will also be out in the community in strong numbers, working at Sweetwater Middle School, Streetwise Georgia, Anderson Livesy Elementary, Beaver Ridge Elementary and Kahnoheda Elementary.

"We have volunteer teams participating from virtually every area of campus and from many  programs – Student Life, Early Childhood Education, Construction and, of course, our own landscape team," said Regina Vella, director of institutional advancement for Gwinnett Tech. "The Gwinnett Tech family is always generous with their time and talents, and this year is no exception."

At Streetwise Georgia, which offers the necessary physical, emotional, mental and spiritual tools to help people stabilize their lives, GTC volunteers will be sorting and packaging clothing. This project will actually continue on Saturday, when the team will work on building walking trails and other landscape projects. At Sweetwater, Beaver Ridge and Kahnoheda schools, Gwinnett Tech volunteers will be building picnic tables.

Gwinnett Tech has supported Gwinnett Great Days of Service since its earliest years and GTC leaders estimate that more than 1,000 Gwinnett Tech volunteers have participated in total.

Gwinnett Tech offers more than 50 degree, diploma and certificate options that can be completed in two years or less. For more information, visit www.GwinnettTech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
