Gwinnett Tech Construction Management Program Ranked No. 7 in Nation
GTC Program Named to Elite List Compiled by Industry Newsletter

Gwinnett Technical College's Commercial Construction Management Program is the seventh best in the nation, according to data recently released by a leading online trade newsletter.

Originally compiled by the U.S. Department of Education, the data examined graduation rates among the country's colleges and universities. Using that information, "Rock & Dirt" ( determined the top ten schools for construction management in the nation.

Coming in at No. 7, GTC was touted as "hyper-focused on preparing construction management students for success through a variety of challenging certificate and degree programs."

Commercial Construction Management Program Director Irish Horsey said it was an exciting announcement. "We were thrilled to hear about this, and we hope to be number one on that list really soon," Horsey said.

She added that the GTC program has seen big enrollment increases recently, and upon finishing coursework, graduates have high career placement rates. "There's a shortage in the industry right now. These students are going to work, and they're starting their own firms... We get calls daily from companies requesting our students," Horsey said.

Horsey noted that the program has many partnerships in the industry, both local and national. Such partnerships consist of "industry leaders who are our eyes and ears. They keep us abreast of trends and help us with curriculum."

GTC's Commercial Construction Management program provides students a strong background in successful management techniques for the industry with an emphasis on real-world business simulations that prepare students to be immediately effective on the job. Coursework includes print reading, project management, construction accounting and finance, construction law, estimating, scheduling and building technology.

Gwinnett Technical College offers a degree in Commercial Construction Management as well as certificates for commercial construction building inspector; commercial construction contract administrator, commercial construction estimator, and in sustainable design and construction.
