Students can also sign up for their orientation by visiting the information desk at either campus Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. At the Lawrenceville campus, the information desk is located at the front entrance of Building 100.

Take a look at some frequently asked questions below and information related to orientation.

Campus orientation events will cover a range of information to assist you with completing the enrollment process and to help you navigate college resources, policies, procedures, and other vital information. You will also get the opportunity to personally meet with and connect with the Gwinnett Tech campus community, including advisors, faculty in your program of study, and a range of staff in student services departments.
At campus orientation events, students will select and attend two breakout sessions during their orientation on topics specifically related to their own needs or interests. Please review the list of topics for the breakout sessions below.

Directions to both campuses.
Lawrenceville campus: Students should follow signs for and park anywhere near Building 700 (Busbee Center). No parking permit is required during orientation.
Alpharetta-North Fulton campus: Students may park anywhere at the campus. No parking permit is required during orientation.

Please bring a photo ID with you to check in during your orientation.

  • Lawrenceville campus: Students will check in at the first floor lobby of Building 700.
  • Alpharetta-North Fulton campus: Students will check in at the first floor lobby at the main entrance.
Orientation is an extended event throughout the day, so we recommend you wear comfortable shoes and clothing. You may also like to bring a light jacket or sweater in case you become cold inside during the day.

 

Yes, students may bring a guest. The limit is 1 guest per student. Children are not permitted at orientation due to the long schedule and academic environment of the event.

9:30 a.m. Orientation Schedule

  • 9:30 a.m. - Welcome Assembly – general information ***required
  • 10:30 .am. - Breakout Session #1 – your chosen topic of interest ***required
  • 11 a.m. - Breakout Session #2 – your chosen topic of interest ***required
  • 11:30 a.m. - Advising session – first semester class selection ***required
    *Please not: your advisor is not available until 11:30 a.m.

Starting at 11:45 a.m., lunch is provided to orientation attendees and their guests, and Student Services department representatives are available to meet with students.
Starting at 12:00 p.m., the afternoon portion of orientation will then have several things students can choose to do, including:

  • Visit the Gwinnett Tech Bookstore for your student ID
  • Financial Aid lab - receive individual assistance or status follow-up questions
  • Registration lab - receive assistance registering for your first semester classes
  • Advising lab - receive advising and enrollment-related services

3:30 p.m. Orientation Schedule

  • 3:30 p.m.- Welcome Assembly – general information ***required

  • 5:00 p.m.- Breakout Session #2 – your chosen topic of interest ***required
  • 5:30 p.m.- Advising session – first semester class selection ***required

Starting at 5:45 p.m., dinner is provided to orientation attendees and their guests, and Student Services department representatives are available to meet with students.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the remaining evening portion of orientation will then have several things students can choose to do, including:

  • Visit the Gwinnett Tech Bookstore for your student ID
  • Financial Aid lab - receive individual assistance or status follow-up questions
  • Registration lab - receive assistance registering for your first semester classes
  • Advising lab - receive advising and enrollment-related services
