Justine Lynch, Chief GED® Examiner at Gwinnett Technical College, has been named the GED Chief Examiner™ of the Year by the Technical College System of Georgia.
The award was presented to Lynch by TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson at the TCSG Office of Adult Education's Fall Conference last week.
"I congratulate Justine Lynch for being named the GED® Chief Examiner of the Year for 2013 and thank her for the exceptional job she does while assisting our fellow citizens who desire to obtain their GED® credential. We're all grateful that Georgia's GED® testing centers are staffed by dedicated people like Justine who believe so deeply in their work and are committed to helping people improve their lives through education," said Jackson.
Gwinnett Tech's GED® testing center, administered by Lynch, was one of the first in the nation to offer the GED® test on computer. As a result, GED program staff from throughout Georgia and administrators from neighboring states visited Gwinnett Tech to learn from her about the implementation and operation of computer-based GED testing. Today, Gwinnett Tech's center leads the nation in the number of computer-based GED tests that have been delivered. Lynch also advises and participates in new trials for GED® testing, such as usability studies and the piloting of computer-based testing in Georgia's correctional facilities.
Gwinnett Tech's GED® testing center was also honored for serving the largest year-to-year increase in test-takers in the TCSG system with a 7-percent increase.
Dr. Victoria Seals, vice president for academic affairs at Gwinnett Tech, echoed Commissioner Jackson's praise of Lynch. "We are so pleased to see Justine's tremendous effort and commitment recognized at the state level. She is awesome at what she does. She cares tremendously about the students and she works hard to help them be successful. The standard of caring and excellence she sets is exemplified by the entire team at Gwinnett Tech involved in GED® testing."
Last year, almost 17,000 Georgians changed their lives for the better and improved their job potential by earning their GED® diploma.
TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson told the luncheon audience of 500 adult education professionals and supporters that the accomplishments of the GED® graduates and dedicated work of Georgia's GED® testing centers combines to send an important message. It tells others, he said, that educational achievement can come any time and at any age.
