Respiratory Care Students Achieve 100 Percent Pass Rate on National Board Exams
Program has earned perfect pass rate for four straight years
Gwinnett Technical College's Respiratory Care students have achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Board for Respiratory Care's Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Examinations.
"This is the fourth year in a row that our program has earned a 100 percent pass rate. Only five programs in the nation have a running three-year total pass rate of 100 percent on these exams for all their graduates," says Bob DeLorme, Respiratory Care program director.
In addition to congratulating his high-achieving students, DeLorme singled out the program's instructors. "Congratulations to our instructors Dr. Larry Arnson, Nadya Khoja, Kiley Hodge, and Megha Patel for their dedication to our program. They have worked hard to help the students be prepared for the exams."
Students graduating from the Respiratory Care program may become certified by taking the Entry Level Certification Examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Upon successful completion of the Certification (CRT) Exam, the student is eligible to take both parts of the Registry (RRT) Exams. To work in the state of Georgia, all respiratory care practitioners must apply and be granted a license.
Gwinnett Tech's Respiratory Care program prepares graduates to obtain jobs as respiratory therapists, who care for and assist patients that struggle with breathing difficulties. Classes focus on the areas of pulmonary and cardiac pharmacology, advanced critical care monitoring, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary function testing, neonatal pediatric respiratory care and more. GTC offers an associate degree in Respiratory Care.
Gwinnett Tech offers more than 50 degree, diploma and certificate options that can be completed in two years or less. For more information, visit www.GwinnettTech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
