It’s a Packed House at Gwinnett Tech!

Lawrenceville - September 28, 2009

GTC started fall classes today with a full house, welcoming 6,719 students – a record number – as fall quarter begins. Compared to the same quarter last year, enrollment is up 25 percent, with 1,331 additional students attending class.

Enrollment at GTC has been growing at a consistent and rapid rate for well over two years now, with 11 consecutive quarters of double digit enrollment growth.

"We expected our growth trend to continue, especially for fall quarter which is traditionally strong, and planned accordingly," explains Sharon Bartels, president, Gwinnett Tech. "However, this increase was beyond even our early expectations. We're gratified to be able to meet our community's need for accessible, affordable and relevant higher education at this expanded level."

The physical signs of growth are evident throughout campus, from construction on new parking areas and a campus circumference road to the upcoming ground breaking for the new Life Sciences Building later this quarter. Last Friday, GTC administrators and faculty welcomed the college's first class of associate degree nursing students for a day-long orientation.
